Valkyria Chronicles WP.JPG

Valkyria Chronicle's biggest strengths are in creativity and problem solving.  The combination of standard strategy-RPG design with real-time unit control is a unique one, and the level design is constantly changing things up with new enemies and challenges to overcome. Each of these battles offers something totally fresh, from the wide-open desert battle during which a sandstorm erupts to the nighttime sneaking mission through the streets of a small town.

Call of Duty:  World at War's biggest strength is in creativity. Players can deal with most campaign missions in any number of ways, and in the deep multiplayer mode players can eventually choose their own combinations of weapons and abilities to form their own character classes.

Far Cry 2 puts a heavy emphasis on player creativity, a category in which Far Cry 2 thrives. Players are free to deal with any combat situation in a number of ways, responding both to their character’s current status, the terrain around them and their goals in any specific mission. More interestingly, the missions the player chooses and how they choose to complete each will have a long-lasting effect on the game’s overall plot, allowing players to influence the story directly.

Educationally, Spore is overwhelming in several areas, and most notable may well be creativity. Simply put, the degree of control the player has over the development of their creatures in Spore is totally unmatched.

Revolution is a turn-based strategy game that has players collecting resources, building cities, trading goods, going to war and generally expanding their civilization. This puts educational focus on business skills and creativity, though Revolution is exceptional both in terms of people skills and classroom facts, as well.

Boom Blox shines brightest when played with others, competitively or otherwise. Players take turns knocking blocks down, and players will often need to be careful about what moves they make, as almost knocking a block down is really just setting up the next player to do it. Cooperative games require forethought as well; passing many of the more difficult levels requires players to coordinate their turns just so.

Lego Indiana Jones:  The Original Adventures' biggest strength is in problem solving. As the game is meant to be kept accessible to younger players, most of the game’s problems are relatively simple, and for the most part they remain logical and intuitive.
